Description:

Parent/child Bead Making Workshops

Enjoy creative fun with your child, making your own handmade beads. The material used is Sculpey, an easy to use oven baked clay. String your handmade beads into a necklace or bracelet to take home.

Session 1: Marbleized beads
Wednesday, January 17

You and your child will choose from among a rainbow of clay colors. Get ready for the fun of marbleizing the clay colors together. Random swirls and patterns appear like magic! Choose the shapes and pattern for the final baked beads. You decide on whether to string a necklace or a bracelet for your finished piece of jewelry.

Session 2: Metal flecked beads
Tuesday, January. 23

Metal Flecked Bead ImageWe start with a base color rolled into a log. Next, thinly rolled sheets of clay are stretched with metal papers of gold, silver or copper for a crackled effect. Small cutters are used to cut out pieces from this sheet and placed on the color log. We then cut the log into beads. The effect is quite impressive. Make a necklace or bracelet.
