Explanation of this subgroup  
Please note that all references to the old terminology for this group have been changed here to
say G2a.  Some other locations on the Internet may still use the old term, G2.

This little subgroup was selected as a distinct subgroup because all the members share a common male
ancestor within the last 1000 yrs.  So far only English surnames are part of this group, but due to the
scarcity of samples here this homogeneity may be coincidental.

Several of the members are confirmed as G2a, but it is also likely that all of them have also the U8
mutation identified by the Garvey and associates group in 2006.   The near genetic neighbors of this subgroup
not only have U8 but lack the new mutations, such as U1, U13 and U16.  Thus the official new
category may be G2a3* when published.

This particular subgroup is at unusual genetic distance within the whole clade from the Swiss and Welsh
subgroups, indicating this subgroup probably did not share a common ancestor within 1500 yrs.

  Roper  # 2   8PBWA in Y-Search.  37106 in G Project.  Only predicted by the lab as G.
  Roper # 1  XY8WA in Y-Search.  67843 in G Project.  Only predicted as G.  While he only matches
              Roper # 2 for 11 of 12 markers.  However, he matches another member of this subgroup
              12 of 12 and has the same surname as Roper # 2.

  Harden # 1  ZV9MK in Y-Search.  31516 in G Project.  Confirmed by the lab as G (M201+) 
                but unclear if tested further.
  Terry  This is a group of closely related men in the Y-Search database.  They will not be listed
                individually here, but link here to see the ones in Y-Search.  There are at least one more
                in G Project.  Several of them are confirmed G2a by the lab, but unclear if tested further.
                The Terrys share a common ancestor with Wilde in recent generations.
  Wilde  JCX38 in Y-Search.  N2070 in G Project.  Confirmed by lab as G2a, but unclear if tested
                further.  Wilde shares a common ancestor with the Terrys in recent generations.
