Explanation of this clade  
Please note that all references to the old terminology for this group have been changed here to
say G2a.  Some other locations on the Internet may still use the old term, G2.

The best-tested of persons in this clade was found to be G2a, but not G2a1 or G2a2.  Information on
           other subcategories of G2a not currently available.  Many of the persons listed here are only
           borderline for belonging to this clade because of lack of 37 markers.  However, a
           detailed sample from Adygeya, Russia, suggests that many of these borderline cases are
           indeed part of the clade.

 Butler  5EXMJ in Y-Search.  21279 in G Project.  Lists origins in Hampshire.  Is only predicted G.

 Gould/Gold(e)   TP6Z5  in Y-Search.  N47373 in G Project.  Only predicted as G. 
            Although he does not have the 37 markers of several others, there are enough available to
            confirm he is part of this clade.  Matches Butler's first 12 markers.  [Though Family Tree
            DNA only predicts him as G, he indicated in a separate transmission he was found to be
            G2a, but not G2a1 or G2a2

 Y-Chromosome Consortium (YCC) sample # 52 from a person from Adygeya, (s.w.) Russia

 Two samples in YHRD database from Kabardinins of southwest Russia.  Because of limited markers
          available, this sample must be considered borderline for this clade, but the YCC sample
          suggests the similarities are not coincidental.

 One sample in YHRD database from Ingushians of southwest Russia.  Because of limited markers
          available, this sample must be considered borderline for this clade, but the YCC sample
          suggests the similarities are not coincidental.

          available, this sample must be considered borderline for this clade, but the YCC sample
          suggests the similarities are not coincidental.

 One sample in YHRD database from Albazinia in the far west.  Because of limited markers
          available, this sample must be considered borderline for this clade, but the YCC sample
          suggests the similarities are not coincidental.

 Privately communicated sample.   Because of limited markers available, this sample must be considered
         borderline for this clade.  Individual unclear whether ancestor from Austria or Hungary

        markers must be considered borderline for this clade.  Matches Butler's first 12 markers.

 Sample collected by the Cinnioglu study (# 87) from north central Turkey.   Because of limited markers available, 
         this sample must be considered  borderline for this clade.  Confirmed as G2a, but not G2a1 or G2a2.

 Three samples in YHRD database from Wroclaw in the south.  Because of limited markers
          available, this sample must be considered borderline for this clade.

 One sample in YHRD database from Stuttgart in the southwest.  Because of limited markers
          available, this sample must be considered borderline for this clade.

who list underdetermined origins in the Old World 
 

 Hill # 1  J6SX2 in Y-Search.  N2027 in G project.  Confirmed by lab as G2a, but not G2a1 or G2a2.

 McClure in Sorenson database.  Lists only American origins.  Not tested for G.

 Martinez  Apparently not in Y-Search.  N34154 in G Project.  Lists only Mexican origins.  Only predicted as G.
             Because of limited markers is only borderline for this clade.  Matches Hill 12 for 12.

 Roeder 69CGH in Y-Search.  Apparently not in G Project.  Lists only American origins.  Matches Butler's
             first 12 markers but may or may not have a close relationship when more markers available. 
             Unclear if tested for G.
