Explanation of this clade
Please note that all references to the old terminology for this group have been changed here to
say G2a.  Some other locations on the Internet may still use the old term, G2.

The individuals within this group are stretching my definition of a clade slightly, but they the
men are geographically disbursed.  Except for Lamm and Adler, common ancestors likely lived more
than 1500 years ago.

Because of the paucity of samples, few conclusions can be made.  But there seems to have been a
migration out of northeastern Europe perhaps in the 1500-2500 yrs. ago period or vice versa.

One of the men here participated in the Garvey & associates study of G SNP mutations, and was found
to have the U8 form of G2a.  He was also found negative for the several subgroups among U8+ persons,
thus U8*.  This U8 category, when officially categorized, may become G2a3*.   There are a diversity of
clades within U8* indicating it has been around a long time within the G2a time span.

Persons probably belonging to this clade    June 2007 update
............confirmed members with 37 markers listed on the graph above are in bold
.....................those with fewer than 37 markers who only seem to belong to the clade are in plain type

who list origins in the Ukraine
Lamm  W2DCV in Y-Search.  50126 in G Project.  Confirmed as G2a by lab but unclear if tested further.
Matches all 37 markers of Adler and the 12 of Ortiz.

who list origins in  Russia
A sample in the YHRD database taken among the Kabardinians of Russia north of the Caucasus
Mountains exactly matches Cano, Adler and Lammebut there are not enough markers to determine if this is
coincidental or not.  This sample also matches a man in another G2a-U8* clade.

who list origins in Poland
Alster  Apparently not in Y-Search.  N4872 in G Project.  Only predicted as G.  Lists origins
in Galicia.  Galicia was partly in Poland and partly in the area to the southwest of there.
Lanzkron  Y8ZS5 in Y-Search.  71985 in G Project.  Only predicted as G.  He matches the
12 markers of Lamm, Adler and Cano exactly, but there are not enough markers to determine if this is
coincidental or not.  This sample also matches a man in another G2a-U8* clade.
Ortiz  Apparently not in Y-Search  45715 in  Project.  Only predicted as G.  [Ortiz is normally a
Hispanic surname so it is unclear if the origins are correctly listed at G Project]  Results received
too late to include on diagram above.  He exactly matches the 37 markers of Adler and Lamm.

who list origins in Hungary
Adler  52UJ2 in Y-Search.  N38430 in G Project.  Only predicted as G by lab.  Matches all 37 markers of
Lamm and the 12 of Ortiz.

who list origins in  Germany
A sample in the YHRD database taken in Freiberg in southwestern Germany
12 markers of Lamm, Adler and Cano exactly, but there are not enough markers to determine if this is
coincidental or not.  This sample also matches a man in another G2a-U8* clade.
Obermayer  Apparently not in Y-Search.  70629 in G Project.  Only predicted as G.

who list origins in Italy
Adami  BQBK9 in Y-Search.  Apparently not in G Project.  Unclear whether predicted or confirmed
             as G.

             further testing for G2 subgroups.
 Labriola/Pinelli  7K43D in Y-Search.  N33177 in G project.  Only predicted as G.
 Loccisano # 1   6Z4CT in Y-Search.  3860 in G Project.  Only predicted as G2a by the lab.
Loccisano # 2 SHBA2 in Y-Search.  2335 in G Project.  Confirmed by the lab as G2a, but unclear
             whether tested further.
Y-122 in Garvey SNP project... found also to be G2a with U8+ but not U16, U13 or U1.. thus U8*
The Loccisanos are apparently closely related.

those who do not know their Old World origins or these are unlisted
Cano   BE5FK in Y-Search.  18753 in G Project.  Only predicted as G by the lab.  Thinks his
Mexican ancestral emigrants were Sephardic Jews.
Devries  Apparently not in Y-Search.  80550 in G Project.  Only predicted as G by the lab.   He shares
a common male ancestor with Adler & Lamm within 500 years.  Results received too late to
