Explanation of this clade
Please note that all references to the old terminology for this group have been changed here to
say G2a.  Some other locations on the Internet may still use the old term, G2.

It seems likely that this clade is a subgroup of the U8+, U13+ portion of G2a persons.  Not one of the men
listed below is known to be tested for G, but the presence of many of the characteristic marker
values seen in the large U13+ clade suggest strongly this clade here is at a minimum G2a.

The lack of  a large number of samples for this clade makes it hazardous to make comments on the
geographical distribution, much less on earlier origins.  The English component seems assured,
and it seems likely there is one Italian member.  Beyond that, it is speculation as to how
      widespread this clade might be.

The Lees sample has a rare 26 value for DYS 449.  If anyone else shares this value, they
will constitute a subgroup within this clade

Persons probably belonging to this clade    May 2007 update
............confirmed members with 37 markers listed on the graph above are in bold
.....................those with fewer than 37 markers who only seem to belong to the clade are in plain type

who list origins in Ireland
 Stone # 2  87AG2 in Y-Search.  80809 in G Project.    Only predicted G.
The Stones are very closely related to each other and to Willis.

who list origins in England
 Lees # 1  8KWAM in Y-Search.  87947 in G project.  Only predicted as G by lab.
Sample became available too late to include in diagram above.
Lees # 2  4HFFS is actually the same as Lees # 1 except that additional testing was done at
            another lab.

who list origins in Germany
Beistel  Apparently not in Y-Search.  N17786 in G Project.  Only predicted as G.
Is borderline for this clade due to having only 12 markers. He is an exact match to a clade member
as well to a person who is not a clade member

who list origins in Italy
Peloni.   A sample in the Sorenson database.   His DYS458 marker has values (9,9) -- slightly different
from the majority listed here.  And his DYS454 marker has a value of 12.  So he is not closely
related to the others in the clade based on these two slow markers.

who list origins in Portugal
A sample in the YHRD database taken in northern Portugal.  Because of the limited number of markers this
sample must be considered borderline for this clade.

whose origins in the Old World are unlisted or unknown
Willis  QEFCF in Y-Search.  Apparently not in G Project.  Unclear whether confirmed or predicted as G.
Stone # 1  Q9QBA in Y-Search.  Apparently not in G Project.  Unclear whether predicted or confirmed as G.
The Stones are very closely related to each other and to Willis.
Spencer # 1  QYDXM in Y-Search.  Apparently not in G Project.  Unclear whether predicted or confirmed as G.
Though his 12 markers exactly match one of the clade's members, he is borderline for this clade until
more markers are available.  He also matches exactly persons not in this clade.
