Explanation of this clade
Please note that all references to the old terminology for this group have been changed here to
say G2a. Some other locations on the Internet may still use the old term, G2.

This clade so far does not have a large membership, and the few samples show two distinct subgroups.
One is Hispanic, overwhelmingly from Puerto Rico. And the others seem to have English names though
the origins are murky. The Hispanics all have a value of 14 for DYS393, and the English are mostly
13 for that marker.

The lack of samples from other areas of the world makes it impossible to speculate on earlier origins.

The value of 21 seen in this clade at the DYS390 marker is most commonly found today in Turkey,
but the clade does not closely match any Turkish samples.

One of these men was found to be G2a by the lab, but it is unclear if he was tested for G2a1 or G2a2.
