Instruction for broken Ellis Island index
This is what I do when the index at Ellis Island appears to have a mistake because the page it takes you to isn't for the right ship let alone the right person,
   from the ELlis Island site, note the ship name and arrival date.
   go to the site Stephen Morse's Search in 1 step
   type in the ship name and click on 'ship lists' link
   type in month, day and year of the ship arrival as both the 'arrived between' and 'and' dates and click the 'search' button.
   note the frame number and then click on the ship name link
   on this page type in the month, day and year of the ship arrival and the frame number from above and click on 'find manifest' button
   this takes you to the first page of the ship passenger list from there you jump back between the 2 other screens to go page by page till you find it. Or use any other method of hunt and peck that works for you.
