Nelson Whistles are high quality, handcrafted instruments designed for the rigors of performance and studio use. The aim was to create an instrument of high quality at a reasonable price. two types of whistles are offered at this point. Quality Brass Whistles and Economy PVC Whistles. The brass whistles are tunable and come with either a conical or cylindrical bore. The PVC are nontunable and cylindrical only.See the For Sale page to see the current whistles for sale.
Daniel Nelson uses only his whistles on his CDs and recordings and performances. At this moment, only D and C whistles are available for purchase. Low whistles are planned for the near future and will be posted here as soon as they are available.
Whistles can be special ordered and may take up to eight weeks to complete. D-C whistle combinations are also available in the Quality Brass line of whistles.
These whistles are made out of high quality non-leaded brass for the Quality Line tunable whistle, and PVC for the Economy Line nontunable whistle. Both whistles feature a curved windway for improved tone and response. For those musicians who have moisture problems, these whistles perform superbly.

These whistles perform well even into the third octave. High D is quite easy to play. The C natural note can be played using both the half hole technique and the cross fingering technique. The fipple is made out of molded plastic so there is very little warming up period for the whistle. Tone also remains constant because the fipple does not swell. Please feel free to contact Daniel for any questions you might have before purchasing a whistle. He will be happy to make you a whistle to your unique requirements.

The Idea for this whistle comes from a small beach near where I live.
The silvery sands with long tuffs of golden grass is the image captured in
the artwork of this whistle.

The ingraving on this whistle gives it the mystique of moonlight on the ocean.
I have always loved the moon on water and the blue color used on this whistle inspired the design. A truly beautiful whistle.
