Ernie and Mel Comic Sampler

Ernie and Mel are two of my favorite characters, but I’m not really sure if anyone else finds them that funny. The humor in their comics is very dry, deadpan, absurdest stuff. I’ve tried writing them, but the comics I like the best are the ones that pop into my head full formed.

DF 3 Ernie and Mel first appeared in 1984 in Dead Frogs on the Ceiling #2, but only in one panel. In issue 3 , 1985, they got two whole pages.
Misc! 31 They got a full story in Dead Frogs #6, but it wasn’t very good. A better story appeared in Bob Pfeffer and Randy Paske’s Misc! 31 mini comic, 1989. Bill and Bill, lawyer assassins, were reocurring characters in Paske and Pfeffer's books.
DF 8 They returned to Dead Frogs in issue 8, 1989.
Members of the UFO had to provide four pages to the comic annual each year. Ernie and Mel showed for a page one in 1993.
I tried to get more consistent at writing by starting a one Ernie and Mel comic strip in the bi-monthly UFO newsletter. I did four in 1995-96. They weren’t that good, or were they? You be the judge.
