"DESTINY"
There is a highway in each life
and each one has a bend.
They are the roads that may bring strife,
or ones without contend.
We know not where our steps will lead;
nor route we choose to tread,
but somewhere we will "sow the seed"
that grows there, hope or dread.
And somewhere down along the line
we'll meet up face to face-
with destiny, some point in time,
where fate will take its place!
Now, only hindsight tells what knows
of one's own timely goals.
The many things that life bestows,
that reaches hearts and souls,
like some dear spouse whose always near
in daily "thick and thin",
and being there with loving care
and when you need a friend,
or like the small ones in their cribs
all cuddled safe and sound,
or many times they soiled their bibs
when flinging food around.
And now these children all are grown
and live around the bend,
now, bringing grandkids to our home,
rings joy that has no end,
and many friendships that were made,
and not some, I suppose,
for all the groundwork that was laid-
not always bloomed a rose!
No, we never knew what other fate
lay waiting down the line;
lurking there 'til judgment date,
lest someone came to find!
It's all because of one right turn
along life's rocky ground,
where all true fate was there to learn-
success, or failure bound!
So, "to each his own" are words that send
a message without doubt;
that all these facts would not have been
had we chose some other route!
