SPELL OF A WATERFRONT

SPELL OF A WATERFRONT
*******
I sought waterfront and I got it;
I searched for many a day;
not once did I say : "quit"...
'til I found it at Crabtree Bay.
*******
I love that place on the water,
where I could go boating or fish,
but five years near Swan Quarter,
my children I came to miss.
*******
So I came back to ole Virginia,
where duty is here now to fill,
but I still love the waterfront splendor,
and I plan to go back....and I will!
*******
I think of the beauty down yonder,
where living is sparkled and sweet,
where crabs are measured in wonder,
especially at Mattamuskeet.
Where I could go netting for minnows
from the banks along side the bay,
or catch on my line with some spinners...
some fish that were needed to weigh;
or, I could just sit there in leisure
and enjoy it's sea water air;
where quietness of inner peace pleasure..
came into my heart to bear.
*******
But now I've returned to the busy
street traffic, and crowds at the mall;
outdoors, where all is so dizzy,
oh how I'm fighting it all!
*******
Ah, but there is the sake of my children,
who are so much worth the while;
and to forsake my course I'm willin'
to renew here an old life style;
but I'll do it under submission,
'til all my grandkids are grown,
then I'll renew my love mission...
down at my waterfront home.
*******
But for now I'll hold it behind me..
'til I can return once more..
to the place I lived so sublimely...
down on the Pamlico shore!
