                                                      A G2a3b* Group with DYS391=9

The persons listed on this page all share a rare value of 9 at DYS391.  This is an uncommon finding.
However, to be considered part of the group they must have somewhat similar other marker values as
9 can occur incidentally rarely within other groups that have their own distinctive features.   Some
caution must be observed because only limited samples are available for most of the men
listed on this page, and the shared 9 value may be coincidental in some cases.   None of the men
here with different surnames are closely related.

The group on this page is G2a.   This means they are positive in special SNP testing for general
G (M201).  And they are presumed positive for G2 (P287) though not tested for this.  For sure, one man is
positive for G2a (P15).  He was also negative for G2a1 (P16) and for G2a2 (M286).  However he was not tested
for G2a3 (L30 or S126).  In addition his DYS425 marker has a value of 14.  This is seen almost entirely
among G2a3 persons and that is why this group is listed with G2a3 persons.  This reasoning may or may
not be correct.  G2a3 is characterized by being positive for the L30 or S126 SNP.   And it is not clear
that all men here will have 14 for their DYS425 value.

For information on what is known of the origins of this grouping here and migrations and time
relationships to other G groupings link to the migration-time page .

Recommended additional deep ancestry testing for men here with the interest and funds for this:

Because there are so few samples of the type here, upgrade to Family Tree DNA's 67 markers is always very useful
in determining proper relationships and for time calculations to common ancestors.  For deep ancestry purposes
only one person within a surname project needs the full 67 markers.  Additional testing within surname projects
might be indicated for more recent comparisons.

At Family Tree DNA for those tested there, in the haplotree section of a G2a3 person's results page is listed
also a deep clade SNP test to order.  For anyone tested for this, the results will tell us finally which G2a3 category
that man belongs to.
