                                                          Haplogroup G Project
                              DNA Results and Groupings

                                                        Miscellaneous G2a individuals

The persons listed on this page are not closely related..  Unless others
with similar results surface, these families are probably the rare survivors of an earlier line.
Oliveira is listed as a distant branch from the G2a3b1* DYS568= 9 persons. Oliveira lacks this 9 mutation.
Marcelo seems to be part of the group we have designated as the DYS568=9 group, but Marcelo differs
from that group in being negative for P303.  He is also negative for M406 the other subgroup of G2a3a.
McKay is also negative for P303 and M406.  And Campagna's sample shows up as a long branch on
phylogenetic networks sticking out from the large DYS388=13 clade though he could not possibly be part
of this.  Bassett for many reasons seems part of the DYS388=13 group, but he has a rare
18,21 set of values for the YCA markers, and he tested negative for P303.  Bassett is negative for
three subgroups of G2a, but has not been tested for L91 (G2a4).

All of the DYS388=13 group and genetically adjacent groups are P303+.

The men on this page are presumed G2a.   This means they were positive in special SNP testing for
general G (M201). They are surely also positive for G2 (P287)  because multiple men were positive for
a G2 subgroup.  Several men here were  found P15+ (G2a).

For information on what might be known of the origins of this grouping here and migrations and time
relationships to other G groupings link to the migration-time page.

The YHRD database is a collection of samples submitted by scientists worldwide.

Any italicized DYS426 value is only predicted, but virtually all G persons have the same value.

Some of the men below with DYS19=17 are known to be Ashkenazi Jewish with some
Sephardic intermixture. The Doerksen sample which seems genetically nearest to the DYS19=17
men was found negative for P15 (G2a), but multiple DYS19=17 men were found P15+.
So there seems some discrepancy here.

Recommended additional deep ancestry testing for men here with the interest and funds for this:

Because there are so few samples of this type, upgrade to Family Tree DNA's 67 markers is always very useful in
determining proper relationships and for time calculations to common ancestors.  For deep ancestry purposes
only one person within a surname project needs the full 67 markers.  Additional testing within surname projects
might be indicated for more recent comparisons.

At Family Tree DNA for those tested there, in the haplotree section of a person's results page is listed
also a deep clade SNP test to order if he has not already been confirmed as belonging to a specific category.

As of July 2009, the deep clade test does not include testing for L91 (G2a4).  This has to be ordered
separately.  One looks for the Order Tests section on one's results page at Family Tree DNA.  Then
the advanced tests are selected, and L91 is near the top of the SNP list.  L91 will likely be added to the
deep clade tests.
