Instant Chili

While this won't be a ChiliPalooza winner, it's surprisingly good for chili that's ready in about 30 minutes.

1 lb. hamburger

1 medium onion

1 jar of salsa (around 16 oz.)

1 can crushed or diced tomatoes

1 can beans

2 tbsp butter

1 tsp. chili powder

1/2 tsp. cumin

Shredded cheese (optional)

You can use mild, medium, or hot salsa depending on your preference.  You can use any type or any size can of tomatoes depending on your preference.  You can use any variety or can size of beans or even 2 cans depending on your preference.

Chop the onion and sautee in butter over medium to medium-high heat.  Add the hamburger to the skillet and brown.

Add the salsa, tomatoes, chili powder and cumin.  Reduce heat and simmer slowly for 15 minutes.

Thoroughly rinse the beans, removing all liquid.  Add to the skillet and bring the chili back to a simmer.

Serve topped with shredded cheese.
