| The Union
Supply Company Store, Rowes Run, Pennsylvania -- Circa 1946 |

|
Back then you could get anything from food to electric trains at the company
store. The last manager of the company store that I can remember was Charley Peskie.
He came to Rowes Run from Smock when they closed the Company Store in that town.
He stayed as manager in Rowes Run until they finally closed the store for good.
The building is still standing. It is used for storage.

| The
Service Station, Rowes Run, Pennsylvania December 1940 |
 |
This is a picture of the service station in Rowes Run Pennsylvania. It was
taken around Christmas time in 1940. You can see the Christmas Wreaths in the
windows of the house to the right. Mr & Mrs Joe Marhefka were living in this
house. Also, to the right of the service station is a view of the Rowes Run boarding
house. The service station was the place where we could get a bottle of True Aid
Soda Pop for a nickle. We would use their air pumps to pump up our bike tires. The
gas stations is closed but the building is still there. It is used to store
cars. ...George Bloom May 2002 |
