I’m a private meteorologist.  I recently moved to the area north of Kansas City (near Trimble, Missouri), after having lived in Wichita, Kansas for a number of years.   I work for myself, though I'm tending toward slowing down some (semi-retirement?) as I get up into my 50's age-wise.  Some places I've worked in the past are:  The Weather Channel in Atlanta, and KSNW-TV, Weatherdata Inc., and Wichita State University in Wichita.

Growing up in Pratt, Kansas, weather has always fascinated me, particularly severe storms and tornadoes.  As an adult, I’ve continued to have a strong interest in understanding storms.  Severe storms forecasting and documentation is a serious hobby and interest of mine.

Although I am not affiliated directly with any government or academic institutions, I have had several papers and writings published in AMS (American Meteorology Society) publications, as well as other magazines and journals.   I plan to continue this because I enjoy it, and hope that some of my ideas might be useful in some areas of operational forecasting.

On a less formal level, this web site allows me to post some weather photographs, as well as brief cases studies of recent severe weather events.

Some personal data…besides weather and storm chasing, I enjoy movies, reading, and running (as long as my feet and back hold out :-) ).  I also love music and playing piano… a great way to burn off stress and tension.   Watching storms has been a hobby of mine ever since I was 9 years old and observed my first tornado pass very near my father’s business at Pratt.
