A Word from the Owners

We have provided you with everything you need except your bed linens and towels.  You should bring replacement toiletries and other misc. things like saran wrap, aluminum foil, toilet paper and paper towels.  To enhance your stay there are a few suggestions that you may want to follow.

House Cleaning and Rubbish Removal

The house will be professionally cleaned on the last Saturday of the term.

Rubbish pickup is on Wednesday and Saturday.  Please put all rubbish out to the curb Tuesday night and Friday night.  If you leave the garbage there will be $100 charge for removal, because each tenant expects the place to be clean prior to occupancy and that means someone will have to take your rubbish to the dump.

Telephone

The phone can be used for local calls only.  All long distance calls must be charged to your own calling card.  Any special requests will be accommodated.  The phone number here is (401) 782-4652.

House Access

Please call my cell phone number for directions. (401-524-5334).  In most cases we will meet you there at 4 pm.  If not then you will have instructions on where to get a key.  Please make sure that you are out of the house at the designated time to allow for the cleaning company to adequately clean the house for the next person.

Local nature walks

There are a few things that we would like to point out that you may miss during your stay if we don't point them out.

There is a pond within walking distance to the property.  If you want to bring a canoe you can paddle around and fish in this area.

In addition there is a very small access area (and the neighbors want it that way) to a beautiful rocky area that you can soak up the sun or go crabing with the kids.  By foot, take a left out of our driveway and connect up to Colonel John Gardner road. Take a right (down the one way the wrong way) down colonel John Gardner road until you get to a castle type house at the point.  There is a small passageway that borders the west side of the house that is for public access.  It is worth the 2 minute walk.

Bed Sizes

Please bring your own sheets and towels.  You will need linens and towels.  We can provide them for an additional $100.  You will need 1 queen, 2 double and 2 twin sets as well as a queen set for the pull out futon if you are using that as well.

Household Supplies

Please bring your own paper goods.  While there are paper towels and toilet paper, please replace it if you use it.  There is dishwashing liquid and dishwasher granules for your use.  If you use the last of it, please replace it.  You may use the washer and dryer, just bring your own laundry liquid.   Trash bags are supplied

There is a local market as well.

 Misc.  Do’s and Don’ts

Do’s

Please treat this house as you do your own.

Please brush off your feet before entering the house.

All of the carpets are steam-cleaned May 25th.

Please wash sand off in the outside shower.  Using the inside shower to remove sand from yourself or your clothes will clog the shower drain and potentially cause the septic system to back up (how’s the smell?).  If the septic system backs up, your vacation will come to an abrupt ending.

Use the clothes line.  This will shake out the excess sand from you towels and swim wear

Cover the garbage cans or raccoons may appear when you least expect them.

We recycle, so put all cans and bottles in the recycle bin.

A Weber gas grill is supplied.   Please cook far away from the house.

Use the Bonnet Shores Activity Center .  For a nominal charge, your children can complete arts and crafts projects during the daytime from 9am to 1pm .  Stop by the recreation center, which is located on the other side of bonnet.  Take a left at the fork and follow around the bend in the road and you will see a gray building on your left.

DONT’s

Don’t park on the street, you will be ticketed.

Don’t put clothes from the beach in the washer or dryer without shaking the sand off.  Please, Please, Please.

Don’t park on the neighbors lawn across the street.

Don’t overuse the water system.

Don’t leave food out or ants may appear.  The place has been completely ant-free; however, leaving food out will attract bugs.

In case of problems call me at (401) 762-5187 or 401-524-5334 (cell phone)

Have Fun !!!

Septic system constraints

We only bring these issues up as a precaution and you should not be afraid to use the system.  The system was just replaced and we want this one to last.

Important issue:

The ground floor bathroom is below the septic system.  The bathroom waste must be pumped up into the septic system.  This is done without the occupant knowing; however, in the rare occasion that there is a pump malfunction you should contact me immediately.  If for any reason the toilet in the downstairs bathroom does not flush properly, please call me immediately on my cell phone.   The bathroom on the first level is completely isolated from the rest of the house.  Therefore you can continue to use the rest of the house water system in the rare occasion of a pump malfunction.

If for any reason, you can not get in touch with me please call Coastal Plumbing ( in Wakefield ) and they will repair any plumbing problem within 2 hours.

The bathroom toilet upstairs may clog with the use of excess toilet paper by the elderly or little ones.  Please let your guests know this.

Also, If it can’t pass your lips then it should not go down the toilet.  This means that no feminine hygiene products or prophylactics be sent down any toilet.  The system will back up!!!!

The system is perfect and we can keep it that way with your help.
