I had kitchen duty at one time and both I and the head cook noticed that cookies were disappearing from the black cabinet in the storage room right next to the enclosed space where the kitchen crew ate and the window where biscuits were served to the girls who waited on tables. The door to the storage room was kept locked, but it appeared that someone else had a key, for cookies kept on disappearing. Well, one night I managed somehow to lock myself in the cookie room and waited to see what would happen. Bye and bye, I heard the lock click and the door opened. I was concealed back in a dark corner, but I could make out the features of two boys who stayed in the basement of the girls' dormitory. They helped themselves to cookies and beat a hasty retreat. I let myself out and went to the outside door to the boys' room. They were shocked to see me. All I said was, "OK, give them back," and they did. No more cookies disappeared from the storage room while I worked in the kitchen.
