 After
working as a commercial artist for thirty years, Liz Kenyon
began a second career as a professional pastelist. Much of
her soft pastels reflect her early life in a small agricultural
town in the Pajaro Valley. Her fertile surroundings of Eucalyptus
groves, oak covered hills, and rows of leafy crops can be
seen in her lush landscapes. Liz attended college in Tucson,
Arizona, where she studied art and continued with printmaking
and ceramics at Arizona State University in Phoenix.
While preferring the warm climate of the desert to work in,
she still visits her homeland to photograph and record the
environment before it is built over. "My subject matter is
filled with emotional connections for me. For example, I have
fond memories of fishing with my Father, and in my picture
"Catch of the Day" I try to describe my warm feelings for
him." Liz has received several awards through the Arizona
Association of Pastel, Sedona Arts Center and Scottsdale Artists'
League.
