Like the trout, these 'bass' puzzles are much more fun than the 'flat' puzzles. These fish puzzles would also be popular with the people who love fish and fishing. They're not as hard to make as you'd think, and you don't 'carve' him, just round him off with the sander. They take a couple of hours to make. The body is one of the easier animals to shape on a sander.

This is a maple wood largemouth bass 'stained' and mounted on a pine plaque. Two dowels hold him on, so he can be removed and taken apart.

Here is a smallmouth bass mounted on a piece of walnut. I include plans for a 'straight' and a 'curved body, and you can position the fins however you like. Later I did more 'wood burning' on this one.

It isn't that hard to construct, involves no carving, only sanding. I use a 4 inch X 36 inch sander and a dremel rotary tool. Also a drill press and a bandsaw with a 1/8 inch blade, I'm sure a scrollsaw would work too. Be sure to check out my free plans for the clamp assistant plans.
