The Cobra Plans

A bit harder to make, but well worth the effort.

cobra and the cat

The pussy cat doesn't care for the cobra too much.

snakes by 7up can to show the size

This is to give you an idea of the size you can make them with my plans. You could scale it down for smaller snakes.

You can tell I enjoy making the cobras. I got started and just didn't want to quit!

Important notice

I recently built my 4th cobra in 3 or 4 months, and ran into problems making him stand up right. I redesigned the third curvy part, if you already have the cobra plans, please download this pdf file with the correct part drawn on it. Click here. This may help even if you haven't had problems. The new plans will have this part instead of the old one. I've also recently upgraded the capes, click here to download this pdf file. If you can't download a pdf file (Adobe reader) click here for just the drawing, the cape template is exactly 7 inches tall, in case it doesn't print out right.

One more tip for you cobra builders, I just finished 2 more cobras, and knowing that the capes are sometimes hard to remove, used "loose" dowels in the capes. The angle of the snake's body still holds the capes in good, but they are so much easier to remove! Just use loose fitting dowels, or sand a bit from the dowels (not too much) so they just slide through the snake body. You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy the capes come out.

NEW!

I finally finished a new "how to do it" DVD I believe will really help. For a short sample, click here, This is a sample in the Windows video format wmv. It will open if you have a Windows media player. Using slides and movies I give closeups and explain every step of the way. For just the DVD click on the Paypal button below. Separately, these DVDs will sell for $7 plus $2 shipping and handling. If you buy one set of plans you can get the DVD for $5 plus s&h, saving $2. (If the button doesn't work for you, hold the Ctrl key while you click on the Paypal button.)

See what other woodworkers are saying about the Cobra DVD, click here.

MORE NEW STUFF!
While making the DVDs, I showed how to make a better looking tail, then later I finally thought of a way to make a much better looking eye for the cobra and the snake. Click here, all you snake makers will like these!

Cobra How to do it DVD

The cobra snake plans run $10.00 postage paid in the USA. They are a bit harder to construct, involves no carving, only sanding. I use a 4 inch X 36 inch sander and a dremel rotary tool. Also a drill press and a bandsaw with a 1/8 inch blade, I'm sure a scrollsaw would work too.

These make great gifts and toys, but I would encourage you to make a couple of the regular snakes first, to get the experience.

Now accept credit cards!

Don't worry about clicking on PayPal, you can't order accidentally and you won't place your order unless you're ready to do so! You verify each step along the way. You can also "sign up" here.

Something new, you don't have to sign up with PayPal to order online any more, PayPal will now handle credit cards for you without a signup!

If you live outside the USA there will be an additional charge of $.50 (50 cents) to help defray the postage differences for the plans.

The How to do it DVD won't work outside of the USA as it is recorded in the NTSC format, and most other countries use the PAL format. You could email me if your country uses the NTSC format.
