2 snakes

Here are 2 of my cherry wood snakes, one all together and one taken apart. These have about 36 to 38 pieces in each one. This can be a tough puzzle to put back together, notice I keep the pieces in order. These 2 were made from 1 1/4 inch X 1 1/4 inch Cherry, 28 inches long to start (the size I had on hand)

kathy

This is my grand daughter Kathy holding one of my big cherry snakes, the plan is very easy to enlarge to the size of your hardwood. I used 1 3/4 inch thick cherry for this one.

Whole bunch of snakes

Different sizes, The top and bottom ones are maple. Harder to work but strong! I use Minwax wood hardener on my Cherry snakes.

that's a long, long snake!

Something NEW! I finally finished a new "how to do it" DVD for the snake and lizard I believe will really help. Using slides and movies I give closeups and explain every step of the way. For a short sample, click here, This is a sample in the mpeg format so it should open if you have an older computer or a newer one. It's a bit blurry as I had to keep the size down online. The DVDs will be much clearer.

While making the DVDs, I showed how to make a better looking tail, then later I finally thought of a way to make a much better looking eye for the cobra and the snake. Click here, all you snake makers will like these!

Snake/Lizard How to do it DVD

I'm now including plans and instructions on how to make a long snake. Here's a 7 foot snake next to a regular sized snake. Below, here's my son Phil, holding the long one.

Uncle Buck with a big long snake.

This big guy has 106 pieces, took awhile to make, I used two long boards but you could use 3 or 4 short pieces of wood if you wanted. Use those scraps! It's not that hard, and a lot easier to handle in the saw. Oh yes, be sure to check out the new Clamp assistant.

These plans run $9.00 postage paid in the USA. It isn't that hard to construct, involves no carving, only sanding. I use a 4 inch X 36 inch sander and a dremel rotary tool. Also a drill press and a bandsaw with a 1/8 inch blade, I'm sure a scrollsaw would work too.

If you live outside the USA there will be an additional charge of $.50 (50 cents) to help defray the postage differences for the snake plans.

Snake Plans
The How to do it DVD won't work outside of the USA as it is recorded in the NTCS format, and most other countries use the PAL format. You could email me if your country uses the NTSC format.
