One of the regular Gainesville 3-Wall Handball players, Frank Green
(pictured below left),
teamed up with Jerry Austin, Tampa, Florida, to win the
Consolation Doubles at the thirty first Florida State 3-Wall Handball
Tournament held annually over the Memorial Day weekend at
Nova Recreation Complex, Ormond Beach, Florida.
Frank has played almost every year of this tournament. He come in
second in Doubles Consolations in 1996 and 1998 and won a Singles Over
45 Consolation in 1994. This year he lost in second round of Super
Singles to Dale Zeigler, Merrit Island. He and Dick Bloodgood, Keystone
Heights, lost to Tommy Veal, Cocoa Beach, and Dale in first round of
Super Doubles.
Other Gainesville regulars who have played in this tournament are
Fred Gregory, Stu Cohn and, until their retirement from handball, are
Gary Cornwell, Jack Martin, who was the 1981 Golden Doubles winner with
Fred Adams, Tim Scott, who won 1977 Golden Singles,
and Steve Schnell, who won 1984 Golden Singles. Over the years, Gary,
Jack, Tim, and Steve have made numerous second and third place finishes.

right.
