Mission Statement

To provide a social organization and network for alumni and friends of Penn State which will enable members to continue their bonds with Penn State, socialize and meet new people, keep Penn State pride alive and visible in Hampton Roads and aide in the recruitment of students for the university, as well as to provide a scholarship for deserving local students in their academic pursuits at Penn State.

There are an estimated 2000 Penn State alumni in the Hampton Roads area. The club serves all of Southeastern Virginia, from the cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk and Chesapeake on the southside, to the peninsula cities of Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown and Williamsburg. The club also serves the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

What's that?  You're a PSU alumni living in Hampton Roads and you are not a club member?  Well, it's easy to join.  Either contact the membership committee or just complete and print a membership form off the website and send the completed form with your membership dues to our club treasurer.  Currently dues are $20 per year.

Did you know we ----

1. Fund a scholarship and award $1,000 to a student from Hampton Roads (sophmore or higher). Applicants write and tell us why they deserve the scholarship and what their school/community involvement is. A committee meets and chooses the winner.
 

2. We send out a newsletter each spring reporting on events of the past year and advising of the schedule for the new year.
 

3. We sponsor a spring banquet (paid for by members), sometimes with a speaker supplied by the University (also hold election of officers for the new year).
 

4. We also sponsor a summer freshmen send-off party where the club supplies the food and beverage.
 

5. During football season, we sponsor several tailgates at locations through out Hampton Roads.
 

6. The University contacts us as a club to buy tickets to a home game.
 

7. We maintain this web page to list pertinent information as it becomes available.
 

8. We support other sports teams when they appear in the area such as the Men's rugby finals held at the Va Beach sportplex and women's basketball games held at ODU.
 

9. We can use your support by joining our club and supporting the scholarship fund using the website membership form. Make sure you get involved in some of the club's activities!  Join a committee or come out for one of our events!
