Anne Shiever was selected this past year (2004) as one of Kansas Author's to have all of her books placed in the Spencer Library/Museum as a part of Kansas history in the Kansas Author's Collection.  Anne Shiever is a very active member of the Kansas Author's Club which celebrated it's 100th year on October 22, 23, 24 in Topeka KS in 2004.  Anne was one of the authors to read both Friday and Saturday evenings at the read around.  She was also one of the authors to do book signings at the convention.  {See some of the photos from the 100 year Convention in Topeka, Kansas at the Kansas Author's Website Link, which is also found on Anne's Favorites page.}  You don't have to live in Kansas to join this great group of authors.

TAFFY'S WONDERFUL MIRACLE

This story which was written several years ago has a projected release for 2005 since the artist is doing her own illustrations for this book.  Teach your children a little bit about Kansas, Kansas Birds, colors, religion, family and friends in this remarkable story entitled "The Five Artist Angels".  The story is about five little angels who decided to help God paint the earth using various colors to describe the beauty of the world.  The story was read to children with learning disabilities, such as ADHD, and other limited attention span problems.  The story held their attention, and the children wanted to hear more.  It was a hit with both the teachers, and the children.  Families will love reading this story to their own children.  It's great for the Babysitter's business, too.  Add some joy to your library with the story of the Five Artist Angels!  [Check back to this website for more specific details of the book's release date, and where it is available!]
 
Myth of the Christmas Spiders

From A Mother’s Eyes

The country is going to war

I heard our loving mother say

As she looked at my dear brother

With bewilderment and dismay

She knew he would be leaving soon

The little boy who was now a man

Fighting for our beloved country

He will always do the best he can

Fighting now, for freedom and justice

To do, from his heart, what he feels is right

But as I constantly watch poor mother

I know she hasn’t slept a wink at night

You see my daddy’s been over there

He’s been to battle a time or two

The simple thought of losing my brother

Breaks her poor heart again, too

As I sit on her lap, to try to comfort her

Sometimes, she’s in a distant stare

Looking through his empty bedroom

Cause my brother, he’s not there!

She tells me she’s so proud of him

For going back to fight, over there

To fight with all his might for us

As she bows her head in a prayer

I lay there quietly, and I just listen

God bring him home safely again

He’s still my little boy, you here

My son, the boy who’s now a man!

I watched her doing the laundry

As she folded a worn out pair of socks

I heard her say on the telephone

I pray he doesn’t come home to me in a box

Then I see her shedding tears again

I know that she misses him terribly so

A sign, only FROM A MOTHER’S EYES

Oh why, Dear God, why did he have to go

She’s sure that he walks in God’s light now

Cause she knows she raised him right

As he’s fighting for our beloved country

So we can sleep safely through the night

She looks through all daddy’s medals

Representing bravery & honor for me and you

Then only, from my mother’s eyes

I know she’s thinking of my dear brother, too

I hear everyone as they try to comfort her

Please don’t be sad, they say it won’t be long

Cause you know your boy’s a man now

With his wisdom, he’s always been very strong

Then as I look into my mother’s eyes

I know I’m growing up to be a man

Caring for her, while big brother’s o’er there

Being strong for mother, the best that I can

Only from a mother’s eyes

Cries of happiness, cries of loneliness & fear,

Please dear God, keep my big brother safe

Till he’s back home with us again, here!

Written for a dear friend of mine, who sheds a tear every time she watches her loved ones leave for battle. I’ve seen her tears of happiness when they are home again, safely; and I watch her shed tears of loneliness and fear. I watch the little ones as they comfort her, but sometimes her own mind isn’t here. I pray for her to be strong till her loved ones all come home. This is for all of you mothers out there. I pray that God is with you and your families shedding his light to guide you through your painful journey

I PRAY FOR AMERICA

I pray for all of America,

May love be in thy heart.

May peace be there to calm thyself,

Until by death we must depart.

May God's angels be there to guard you,

Keeping you safe each day and night.

Teach us Lord to stand together now,

For America come together and unite!

God, Grant us peace on earth.

Please fill our hearts with love

Until we reach our Heavenly Father

In his wonderful home above

You have taken these children

On this day to lay them down to rest

They were loved here on this earth

But now they are with “Your Best.”

We’ll never forget how we felt that day

As You took some of your children away

When the World Trade Center fell to

REMEMBER SEPTEMBER

We will always Remember September 11, 2001

when smoke & flames blocked out the sun

So many of God's children died on that dreadful day

People stood silent as the bodies were carried away

Others became Hero’s, for saving only a few

but Americans still searched for those they once knew

Americans came together, and so many grew wise

As the World Trade Center collapsed

Right before their bewildered & saddened eyes

We learned we never know what lies ahead

and the tragic memory lives on of those who are dead

For those of you who lost someone you love

Remember they are with God now in heaven above

I've been good this year so if I could have a wish,

Beneath the Family Christmas Tree;

I'd wish for "World Peace & Love"

so the whole wide world could see,

that WE all need to reach out to one another

to live our "Life by Love" for Peace & Harmony.

So my very Dearest "Santa"

when your journey's near & you are on your way,

Don't put a package for me on your big Ol' sleigh,
