A Brief Lesson
In Russian Language

To us, the Russian language sometimes seems as impenetrable as the Iron Curtain used to be!  Russian uses the Cyrillic script, which was devised by a monk named Cyril.  It is based on the Greek alphabet - with a few Latin letters as well as some additional letters devised to reflect the sounds of Russian.
We found a book entitled Adopting From Russia: A Language and Parenting Guide by Teresa Kelleher to be a great help!  It offers pronunciation of common words and phrases that you might use in the adoption process and with your child.  Here are just a few:

OH-chin  pree-AHT-na Pleased to meet you.
