Located in central Kansas and primarily situated on and around the Smoky Hill River and its tributaries, our miles of river and creek bottom and acres of soybeans, milo, wheat, alfalfa, and CRP offer ideal habitat, promoting quality development of our native wildlife, including the most popular Kansas game species. 2003 was the Grand Opening for Smoky Hill Outdoor Adventures and what a phenomenal and exciting beginning it proved to be! Although our late start limited us to strictly whitetail deer, we were pleased to book all of our hunts and privileged to host some exceptional hunters who quickly became our close friends. Thank you to all who were a part in making our first year such a memorable success and we eagerly anticipate your return and taking care of you for many years to come! Now in our sixth year, we are again making available to you, ground that our families have hunted and enjoyed for the past many decades. With over thirty years of combined hunting experience on much of this ground, we are confident we can supply a hunt for just about anyone who is looking to see, hunt and harvest quality, abundant, and trophy class game. Speaking of trophies, the very first deer taken by a SHOA guest was a twelve point KS monster scoring 177 2/8" which proved to be the largest deer harvested on our properties in 2003! Our digital trail cameras had captured this deer several times prior to the season which made his harvest even more exciting and interesting! We have since harvested a 163" 8 point with muzzleloader in 2004 (this deer would have booked as an 8 point had he not been damaged), a 188" 10 point monster in 2005, an incredible 181" 8 point in 2006, and a smokin' 187 4/8" 8x6 archery buck in 2008! These are all incredible deer and no doubt challenges to exceed, but we are all the more confident and eager to try during the 2008 season! Our consistent successes and satisfied customers have gained us a reputable and venerated spot as an Endorsed Outfitter with Garth Carter Hunters Services! Until then, we are excited to begin 2008 with our Rio Turkey hunts and judging by the numbers of birds and rapidly filling hunts, it is going to be a great start for another successful year!! We began this venture with a long history of hunting and outdoor traditions. It has become Our Dream to develop, manage, and preserve the greatest quantity and best quality of land and wildlife possible, balancing the hunter's desires with the needs of mother nature. To promote this balance, hunting access and harvest numbers must be limited to reasonable numbers. Recognizing that not everyone is able to enjoy access to the best quality hunting ground, it is Our Dream and we have made it key to our mission to develop and ultimately make available to as many others, as much quality acreage as we are able so more may share in the often otherwise inaccessible enjoyment of this tradition. Location, Location, Location!! With exclusive hunting rights to over 25,000 acres of prime Kansas hunting habitat in Ellsworth, Barton, Russell, Kiowa, Rice, Reno, and Logan counties (and rapidly expanding), we manage and control a diverse array of land including miles of river bottom and creek beds, rolling hills and pasture land, and acres and acres of pheasant infested CRP. Quality, more then quantity, is the critical factor influencing a hunter's chances for success. Regardless of a hunter's skill and patience, if the quarry is not present little else matters. Our locations are ideally situated and have been further developed to encourage the presence of exceptional wildlife populations. While no one can absolutely guarantee success, we can guarantee that we will provide you with access to some of the best quality hunting ground Kansas has to offer, which will dramatically increase your odds!
