WHITE ROOM

RENEBERG:  I've already told you what I know! What else do you want?

MADELINE:  I'm not convinced the location you gave us is only used for munitions.

RENEBERG:  That's what they told me.

MADELINE: That, and what else?

RENEBERG: Nothing!  I swear!

MADELINE: You're on the inside track, Mr. Reneberg.  You advise them on these matters. No information has been withheld from you.  What haven't you told me?

OPERATIONS:  Why are you still here?

MADELINE:  Excuse me, I'm in the middle of something.

OPERATIONS:  We've already got the location.  I need you in Systems.

MADELINE: The Algiers Mission is still prepping, I have plenty of time.  It's not as critical as this.

OPERATIONS:  It's my decision to make and I've already made it.

MADELINE:  We can't send Teams into Glasgow with limited Intel.

OPERATIONS:  I told you, we have enough intel.

MADELINE:  Not in my opinion.

OPERATIONS:  They're waiting for you in Systems.

CORRIDOR OUTSIDE SYSTEMS

MADELINE:  I don't think that was the right call.

OPERATIONS:  It's over.  Why are we still talking about it?

MADELINE: I wanted you to know how I feel.

OPERATIONS:  Great!  Now I know.

MICHAEL'S OFFICE

NIKITA:  I've got the documents.  They're on here. I'm going to need your Mission codes before I can take it to the Profiler.

MICHAEL: Good.

NIKITA: What's going on between Operations and Madeline?

MICHAEL:  What do you mean?

NIKITA:  They had an argument.

MICHAEL:  Probably over the Glasgow Mission.

NIKITA:  This was personal.

MICHAEL:  They've known each other for a long time.

NIKITA:  Before she came to Section?

MICHAEL: I don't know.

NIKITA:  Well, I know something.  They're lovers.  Maybe not any more, but they were once.

MICHAEL:  What difference does it make?

NIKITA:  It can be done.

MICHAEL: A lot of things can be done.  Doesn't mean they should be.

BRIEFING TABLE

OPERATIONS: We intercepted a Red Cell courier last night.  The information he gave up under interrogation, included a location of this house here in Glasgow, Scotland.  Birkoff?

BIRKOFF:  We think it's a Red Cell outpost, possibly a munitions store.  I'm running approach scenarios now.

OPERATIONS:  Our primary concern is to neutralize the facility. If we can bring back live hostiles without jeopardizing the Team, do it.  Mowen, you'll take the interior under Michael's control.  He's with the Profiler now.

MOWEN:   Sure.

COMM

BIRKOFF:  Yeah, reroute them?

COMM TECH:  Not a problem.

BIRKOFF: Yeah.  Hey. What happened last night?

GAIL: What do you mean?

BIRKOFF:  I thought we were gonna do something.

GAIL:  Sorry.  I got home late.

BIRKOFF:   So, how about tonight?

GAIL: Tonight's bad.

BIRKOFF: Gail, what's wrong?

GAIL:  I really have to get this done.

BIRKOFF:  There.  It's done. Talk to me. What's going on?

GAIL: I'm sorry. I really like you, Birkoff, but its not working.

BIRKOFF:   Since when?  You were fine this weekend!

GAIL:  It wasn't fine -- not for me.

BIRKOFF:  What did I do wrong?

GAIL: Nothing. I ... It's not you; it's me.

BIRKOFF: Are you seeing someone else?

GAIL: Of course not.  I just really need some time alone.

BIRKOFF:  All right, so you take some time.  I understand that.  We don't need to make any final decisions. You know, I need time alone, too.  This could be great for both of us, a couple weeks down time…

GAIL: Birkoff, no.  It's over. I'm sorry.

MUNITIONS

WALTER: Birkoff!  Cam's ready.

WALTER:  There you are. Hey, what's wrong, Amigo?

BIRKOFF:  Nothing.  This expansion card's supposed to be grounded?

WALTER:  Oh, yeah, huh. You still haven't answered my question.  Why the long face?

BIRKOFF:  Gail just dumped me.

WALTER:  What?

BIRKOFF:  She said she wants "time alone”.

WALTER: Oh, yeah, I love that line!

BIRKOFF:  Yeah.

WALTER: Do you know who it is?

BIRKOFF:  What is?

WALTER:  The guy she dumped you for.

BIRKOFF: No, she wouldn't do that.

WALTER:   Well, what do you care?  With your brains and your good looks, man. You don't want to be tied down, anyway.

BIRKOFF:  She's not seeing anyone, okay?  She wouldn't lie to me.

WALTER: Yeah, of course she wouldn't.  I'm sorry.  It was a wrong call.

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

MOWEN:  I'm in position.

MICHAEL: Mowen's on his way in. Got him, Birkoff?

BIRKOFF: Yeah, I've got him.

MOWEN:  I'm in.

MICHAEL: Okay, go.

MOWEN: You picking up any warm bodies in here?

BIRKOFF: No. Infrared's clear.

MICHAEL:  Give me some views.

MOWEN: (via comm) Are you getting this?

MICHAEL:  What is it?

MOWEN:   (via comm)  Debris. Broken glass, carbon deposits.  Looks like residue from a small explosion.

MICHAEL:  Anything else?

MOWEN:  (via comm)  No.

NIKITA:  Red Cell cleared out.

MICHAEL:  If they were ever there at all.

BIRKOFF: What do you want to do, Michael?

MICHAEL: Team Three, any new activity on the perimeter?

TEAM LEADER:  No.

MICHAEL: Mowen, collect some samples then take the perimeter Teams back to Section.

NIKITA: What about us?

MICHAEL:  We'll stay here to do some surveillance.

NIKITA: How long?

MICHAEL:  Until morning.

OPERATIONS' PERCH

MADELINE: There was nothing in Glasgow.

OPERATIONS:   Was there ever?

MADELINE: That's what we're trying to find out.  Mowen's collected some residue.  We'll run it through.

MADELINE:  Would you like to join me for lunch?

OPERATIONS:  Not today.

MUNITIONS

WALTER:  Hey, Mowen.

MOWEN:  Not much there for you, Walter.

WALTER: You got that right. Get Janklow from Biotech down here, please.  We'll let him poke around, see what he comes up with.

MOWEN:  Whatever.

WALTER: Thanks.

MOWEN: Yep.

COMM

MOWEN:  Hey, Gail.  How's it going?

GAIL:  Hey.  How was Scotland?

MOWEN:  Cold.

BIRKOFF:  I need that video.

MOWEN:  Knock yourself out.

MOWEN:  Hm…

BIRKOFF:  Shouldn't you be debriefing?

MOWEN:  What's your problem, Birkoff?  Huh?  You've got a bit of an attitude today.

BIRKOFF:  Do I?

MOWEN:  Yeah.

BIRKOFF:   Maybe that's because too many people think Comm is a lounge.  It's not.  It's where I work.

MOWEN:   Ooo…

JANKLOW:  Hey, babe.

GAIL:  Hey.

JANKLOW:   Oh, yeah.  Sorry. How ya' doing, Birkoff?

BIRKOFF:  Good.

JANKLOW:  I gotta go pick up some stuff from Walter.  I'll catch ya later.

GAIL: Uh. I didn't want to ...

BIRKOFF:  What?  Didn't want to what?

GAIL:  Hurt you.  I -- I didn't want to hurt you.

BIRKOFF:  You're gonna hang out with Janklow and you think that's gonna hurt me? Get real.

GAIL:  I'm sorry.

BIRKOFF:  Be sorry on your own time.  Here, strip the noisy frames.  Now.

BIRKOFF:  (to Mowen) Are you still here?

Mowen collapses.

OPERATIVE 1: He's convulsing!

BIRKOFF: Get Medical!

OPERATIVE 2:  Get hold of him!  Hold him down!

MOWEN:   Ahhh!

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND: SECTION VAN

NIKITA:  Michael.

WOODS NEAR THE FACTORY

NIKITA:  Bullet to the head.

OPERATIONS' PERCH

OPERATIONS:  What is it, Birkoff?

BIRKOFF:  (via intercom) Michael and Nikita just found a dead body on the site.  Should they bring it back?

OPERATIONS:  Can you process it from here?

BIRKOFF:  (via intercom)  Sure.

OPERATIONS:  Do that.  Tell them to stay put for now.

OPERATIONS:  You were saying.

MADELINE:  Mowen is fading in and out of consciousness but we're putting him through every conceivable test we can.

OPERATIONS: Is there anything in his medical history that would explain it?

MADELINE:  No.  He's been in excellent health.

OPERATIONS:   Maybe the body they found in Scotland will lead us somewhere.

MADELINE:  Let's hope so.  I'm concerned with the amount of valuable resources we're using to chase faulty intel.

OPERATIONS:  Hm. I've got to get on with the Agency.  Keep on top of it, we'll meet later.

MADELINE:   Fine.

COMM

JANKLOW:  Birkoff.  We need an authorization now!

BIRKOFF:  Why?

JANKLOW:  We just found out what's wrong with Mowen.

BIRKOFF:  What?

JANKLOW:  A bacteria, an anthrax variant.

BIRKOFF:  We have a segmentation condition.  Proceed to a Containment Area.  You have fifteen seconds.

OPERATIONS:  Birkoff, what's going on?

BIRKOFF:  We have a lethal contagion inside Section. We're infected.

COMPUTER VOICE: Containment procedure in effect.  Containment in effect.

OPERATIONS' PERCH

Comm, Systems, Madeline’s office and Munitions are in a video conference.

JANKLOW:  Mowen's isolated.  We've got him under observation.  The standard lab tests used by Medical all showed nothing.  Whatever Mowen has didn't present itself like any documented disease.  Biotech stepped in, we analyzed the data.  We took samples of his blood and ran it.  We found something that was replicating at an alarming rate.

OPERATIONS:  An antigen?

JANKLOW:  A genetically modified bacteria.  We haven't been able to classify it.

MADELINE:   And you think it's airborne?

JANKLOW:  We don't know, but we shouldn't take the chance that it is.  We should stay isolated until we know more.

MADELINE:  And no one else has presented symptoms?

JANKLOW:  No.

MADELINE:  We have to assume Mowen got this in Scotland and brought it back.  Have Birkoff check all civilian populations in the area, see if there's any reports of an outbreak.

BIRKOFF: I've already checked pandemics worldwide.  There's nothing like this that we've seen so far.

OPERATIONS:   Are Michael and Nikita still on site?

BIRKOFF: Yeah.

OPERATIONS:   Keep them there. Tell them to isolate, and do a lab on both of them as well as the dead body.

BIRKOFF: Okay.

BIRKOFF:   It looks like you're going to be here for a while.  Why don't you use station three, I'll reroute your files down here.

JANKLOW: Thanks.

GAIL: We're safe in here, aren't we?

JANKLOW:   We oh, yeah. These shields are impenetrable.

BIRKOFF:   That's a stupid thing to say. What if one of us has already been infected?

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

BIRKOFF:  (via comm) Michael, where are you?

MICHAEL:  Outside, doing surveillance.

BIRKOFF: (via comm) Don't go in the building.  Get back in the van.

MICHAEL:  What's wrong?

BIRKOFF:  (via comm) Mowen's been infected.  He's dying.  It may have happened while he was inside.

MICHAEL:  Nikita.  Over here.

MICHAEL:   (via comm) What do you want us to do?

BIRKOFF:  We need blood samples.

SECTION VAN

NIKITA:  What happens if we get infected?

MICHAEL:  We could die.

NIKITA:  Oh.

MADELINE'S OFFICE

OPERATIONS: (via monitor) Update me.

MADELINE:   Mowen's decline remains steady.  Janklow's working.  We still don't know what we're up against.

OPERATIONS:  (via monitor) Any new cases?

MADELINE:  No. So far, Mowen's the only one.

OPERATIONS:  (via monitor) Good.  Maybe we caught it early enough.  What about existing operations?

MADELINE:  What our substations can't handle, we're handing back to the Agency.

OPERATIONS:  (monitor)  Keep me posted.

MUNITIONS/COMM – INTERCOM EXCHANGE

MEDIC 1: (as seen in monitor) We have some activity here.

MEDIC 2: (as seen in monitor)  Respiration's up.

WALTER:  Are you watching this, Birkoff?

MEDIC 2: (monitor) Respiration's up.

BIRKOFF: Yeah, I see it.

WALTER:  This is not the Hong Kong flu.

MEDIC 2:   (monitor)  B.P.'s rising.

BIRKOFF:   I know.

MEDIC 1:  (monitor)  Heart rate is going up.

BIRKOFF: Have you ever been through this before?

MEDIC 2:  (monitor)  Check the I.V.

WALTER:  No. But I did help design their shields over ten years ago.  They're safe.

MEDIC 1:  (monitor)  Blood pressure is rising.

WALTER:  Why don't they give him something for the pain?

BIRKOFF: They think it would interfere with normal body chemistry.  Could skew the data.

WALTER:  Well, that's not gonna happen to me!

MEDIC 1:  (monitor)  He's going into convulsions here.  Blood pressure's gone way up. We need some backup in here -- stat! Get that backup team in here! Get that backup in here.  Hurry!

Mowen falls limp: dead.

MEDIC 1:  (monitor)  Patient is pronounced dead, 10:15 a.m.

BIRKOFF:  I've got to get off, Walter.  I'll talk to you later.

WALTER:  Yeah.  Okay.

COMM

BIRKOFF:   It doesn't mean anything, Gail.  We're going to be fine.

GAIL:  That's not what you said before.

BIRKOFF:  I was wrong.  I shouldn't have said that.  I was mad or jealous, I don't know. Why don't you find out if they have the results on Michael and Nikita's blood test?

GAIL:  Okay.

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - SECTION VAN

NIKITA:  What are you doing?

MICHAEL:  I'm running the fingerprints on the body we found.

NIKITA:  Why don't you just download them?

MICHAEL:  They're using all their resources. They re-routed it back to me.

NIKITA:  It must be pretty crazy back there.  How's Mowen?

MICHAEL: He's dead.  Nikita ...

Computer beeps.

BIRKOFF:  (via comm) Nikita, are you there?

NIKITA:  Yeah, Birkoff?

BIRKOFF:  (via comm) We got the results of your blood tests. You're both clear.  The test results were negative.

NIKITA: Thanks.

MICHAEL: Birkoff.

BIRKOFF:  (via comm) Yeah?

MICHAEL:  I have a fingerprint match on the body.

BIRKOFF:  (via comm) Send it.

MADELINE'S OFFICE

MADELINE: Yes, Birkoff.

BIRKOFF:  (monitor) The man they found dead in Scotland was Josef Azderian.  He's got numerous ties to the other side.

MADELINE:  As what?

BIRKOFF:  (monitor) Lower level stuff:  gofer, muscle, whatever he could get.  He was paid 400,000 Hong Kong dollars a week ago.

MADELINE: By whom?

BIRKOFF: (monitor) Anatole Bisseroff.

MADELINE:  I know that name.

BIRKOFF:  He's Red Cell.  His background previous to that was Bio-Weapons.

MADELINE:  (monitor) We were set up.  They sent us in there to infect an Operative, knowing we'd bring him back to Section.

BIRKOFF:  It looks that way.

MADELINE:   (monitor)  Are Michael and Nikita still in isolation?

BIRKOFF:     No, they're clear.

MADELINE:   (monitor)  Tell them to get to BISSEROFF:.  Let's find out what we're up against.

BIRKOFF:   They're already  on route. Do you want me to move any of the computers onto tactical support?  What do you want me to do?

MADELINE:  No, keep all the systems supporting Bio for now.

OPERATIONS:   (via intercomm)  Madeline?

MADELINE:   I'm here.

OPERATIONS:  (voice)  Why isn't your video up?

MADELINE:   It went down a few moments ago.  I'm working on it.  What's up?

OPERATIONS:  (voice)  I just heard from Medical.  Three more Operatives have been infected.

MADELINE:   From where?

OPERATIONS:  (voice)  Munitions, the Clinic and Systems.  It's spreading.

MUNITIONS/COMM – INTERCOM EXCHANGE

WALTER:  How are the people in your cell holding up?

BIRKOFF: Okay.

WALTER:  Is Gail with you?

BIRKOFF:  Yeah, she's here.

WALTER:  Maybe this will bring you guys closer together.

BIRKOFF:  I don't think so.

GLASCOW, SCOTLAND: UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

BIRKOFF:  (via comm)  How close are you to Bisseroff?

MICHAEL:   We're on our way.

BIRKOFF:  If he's not there, don't wait.  Go right to the secondary location.

MICHAEL:  I know.

BIRKOFF:  (voice)  And remember, he has to be taken unharmed.

MICHAEL:  What's your status over there, Birkoff?

BIRKOFF:  Not good. It's spreading. ...  Mowen might have infected everyone before the shields came down.

MICHAEL:  Is there any way to synthesize an antibiotic in-house?

BIRKOFF:  Janklow's working on it. But our hope is that you and Nikita find Bisseroff: and he can get one for us.

MICHAEL: I'll check in as soon as we make contact.

BIRKOFF: Yeah.

OPERATIONS' PERCH

OPERATIONS:  No, George.  We won't let that happen. No, the Mediterranean Operation has not been affected.  Information is being uploaded, it won't be lost. ...

BIRKOFF:  (via intercom) Sir?  Janklow has new information.

OPERATIONS:   I've gotta go, George.  Yes, I'll call you! Okay, conference everyone in.

OPERATIONS:   Is everyone on?

BIRKOFF:  Yeah.

JANKLOW:  I've isolated the bacteria.  The Profile's up on your screen. These are from Mowen's blood.  We've confirmed that it's synthetic.  It was produced through DNA shuffling.  Once inside the victim, there's an explosive chain of lethal transmissions. Strikes the brain first, causing swelling.  Nosebleeds and headaches are the first symptoms.  From there, it spreads to other organs: lungs, liver, pancreas. We're running dozens of parallel tests to try to combat this thing.

MADELINE:  (voice) Janklow, stop looking for a cure.  We have to operate under the assumption that we can't help those that are already infected.  Put your people on the task of finding an inoculation.

OPERATIONS:  How long does the carrier have after the initial symptoms?

JANKLOW:  Mowen was eighteen hours, but the rest haven't been consistent.  I'd say three days is the most we could hope for.

OPERATIONS: And how many people now have it?

JANKLOW:  Seventeen percent of Section, of which half contracted it in the last two hours.

MADELINE: (voice)  Do we have confidence that any of the segments will remain uninfected?

JANKLOW:  We won't know that until the spread stabilizes.

OPERATIONS:  Okay, get to work, Janklow.  Put up a status on the half hours.

JANKLOW: Yes, sir.

OPERATIONS:  Everyone off, except for Madeline. You haven't been able to fix your video?

MADELINE:   (voice)  No, they're still working on it.

OPERATIONS:  Hold on.

OPERATIONS:  Birkoff, Madeline's A camera's down.  Can you get me in there?

BIRKOFF:  Let me see. You should be on.

OPERATIONS:  Oh, my God.

MADELINE:  I'm all right.  I can still function.

OPERATIONS:   I'm sending someone from Medical right away.

MADELINE:  No, you can't.  It's too risky.  We need those people.

OPERATIONS:  I need you.

MADELINE:  No, you need everyone working at full efficiency.  I can do what I have to for at least the next six hours.

OPERATIONS:   Madeline, you ....

GLASCOW, SCOTLAND : UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

NIKITA:  Dr. Bisseroff?

BISSEROFF::  No.

MICHAEL: Would you come with us, please?

BUILDING HALLWAY

BISSEROFF: Please, I really .. don't .. know.  I -- I can't. I can't tell you where it is...

NIKITA: So, there is a cure?

BISSEROFF:  They have my wife and my children.  If I tell anyone where the antibiotic is, they said they would ...

NIKITA:  Who's "they"?

BISSEROFF: Red Cell.

MICHAEL:  Why didn't they just kill you?

BISSEROFF: They will, eventually.  There's more work they want me to do.

MICHAEL:  Look at me. What if we get your family back?

COMM

MICHAEL: (voice)  Birkoff?

BIRKOFF:  Yeah.

MICHAEL: (voice)  Red Cell has his family.  We need a way around that.

BIRKOFF:  I'll take care of it. Gail?

GAIL:  Yeah?

BIRKOFF:  I need you to format a 2D Hartley transform, high resolution.

GAIL:  Oh, my God, Andy!  Andy!

JANKLOW:  Gail, no!  He's contagious!

BIRKOFF: Sit him up.  Bring him here.

JANKLOW:  Raise the shield! Get him out of here – he’s going to infect us all!

BIRKOFF:  It's too late!

JANKLOW:   Screw that!  I'm not breathing the same air as him!

BIRKOFF:  Janklow, don't be a jerk.  Nobody's going anywhere.  I know you're scared, we all are.  We need you to do your job. Okay?

JANKLOW:  Yeah.

OPERATIONS' PERCH

OPERATIONS:  Walter, status.

WALTER:  Six segments are still holding.  The rest are infected.

OPERATIONS:  Who's clean?

WALTER: Three in Comm; one in Systems; two on Level Four.

OPERATIONS:   How about Michael and Nikita?

WALTER:   Birkoff is preparing a package for them.  They're going to have another try at Bisseroff once it's delivered to them.

OPERATIONS: Let me know the minute you hear from them.

WALTER: Of course.

OPERATIONS:  Madeline, are you there?  Madeline?!

MADELINE: (voice) Yes.

OPERATIONS:  How are you?

MADELINE:  (voice) Tired.  I'm resting.

OPERATIONS:  Birkoff!

BIRKOFF:  Yeah.

OPERATIONS:  Open my cell.

BIRKOFF:   What?

OPERATIONS:  You heard me, let me out.

BIRKOFF:  Sir, you know I can't do that.

OPERATIONS:  Yes, you can, damn it!  Punch in the code now!

BIRKOFF:   Sir, you don't have the authority to supercede.  You built in that safeguard in yourself.

OPERATIONS:   Do it, Birkoff!

BIRKOFF:  No.

OPERATIONS:  You're making a grave mistake, young man!  I won't forget this.

GAIL:  As you sure that was the right thing to do?

BIRKOFF:  Yeah, it's fine. Did you download the transform to Michael?

GAIL:  Yeah.

BIRKOFF:  Good.

Operations shoots his door down.

GAIL: Oh, my God.

MADELINE'S OFFICE

OPERATIONS:  What can I do?

MADELINE:  You shouldn't be here.

OPERATIONS:  Of course I should. I wouldn't be here today, if it weren't for you.

MADELINE:  You always exaggerate that incident. You would have made it out just fine.

OPERATIONS:   I always thought I'd regret things I've done. Instead, I regret the things I didn't do.

MADELINE: The pain is bad enough.  Don't go poetic on me.

OPERATIONS:   Just hold on.  Michael and Nikita have Bisseroff.  Maybe he has the antibiotic.

MADELINE:  Maybe.

OPERATIONS:   Shhh.

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND :  DR. BISSEROFF'S OFFICE

MICHAEL:  Your family's free.

BISSEROFF:  You're lying.

MICHAEL:  You want to talk to her?

BISSEROFF: Olga!

OLGA BIRKOFF: (via monitor) Anatole.  We're all right.

BISSEROFF:  Where are you?

OLGA BIRKOFF: (via monitor)  They won't tell us.

BISSEROFF:   How are the children?

OLGA BIRKOFF: (via monitor)  They're scared, but no harm has come to them. Ahh, please, Anatole, just tell them what they want to know.

MICHAEL:  Where is the antibiotic? We have your family in our compound.  We can free them or we can infect them with the anthrax you engineered.   Is that's what it takes?

BISSEROFF: No, don't, please. I have a private laboratory.

NIKITA:  Where?

COMM

BIRKOFF:  Sir?

OPERATIONS:  Yes.

BIRKOFF:  Nikita and Michael just called.  They've got the antibiotic and they're on their way in.

OPERATIONS:  How long?

BIRKOFF:  Three hours.

MADELINE'S OFFICE

OPERATIONS:   Hold on.  Hold on.

COMM

GAIL:  Hey, are you okay?

BIRKOFF:  Yeah, I'm all right.

GAIL:  Um, I wanted to explain ... about Janklow.

BIRKOFF:  Doesn't matter.

GAIL:  No!  It matters to me. He's older, it seemed romantic.

BIRKOFF:  I don't want to hear this.

GAIL:  All I'm saying is that I was wrong. You're the one I want to be with, not him. That is, if you still want me.

BIRKOFF:  I don't know, Gail. I can't think about this right now.  None of this is gonna matter, anyway, if this antibiotic doesn't work

GAIL:  You think it might not?

WALTER:  (via intercom) Birkoff.  How much longer?

BIRKOFF:  The plane's on initial approach.  Should be here within the hour.

WALTER:  I'm feeling bad, man.

BIRKOFF:  Hang in there, Walter.

SECTION / MADELINE'S OFFICE

OPERATIONS:  Situation, critical.  Ninety-two percent infected; nineteen dead. End Game  procedures are in place.  All relevant files ... will be downloaded to a secure site. If the antibiotic ... is ineffective, I have programmed an incineration plan to contain the outbreak.

VAN ACCESS

MICHAEL:   Birkoff, we're ready.

BIRKOFF:  (via intercom) You don't need to come in.  You can just leave the antibiotic.

MICHAEL: You need all the help you can get.  Hurry up.

BIRKOFF:  (via intercom) That's crazy.  You'll be infected for sure.  You don't even know if the antibiotic works yet.

NIKITA: Open the doors -- now.

COMMON AREA

Michael and Nikita begin injecting everyone in Section with the antibiotic cure.

MEDICAL

OPERATIONS:  Good morning.

MADELINE:   I'm thirsty.  Are we back to full capacity?

OPERATIONS:  Over ninety percent.

MADELINE:  What about Algiers?

OPERATIONS:  It's under control.  I want you to rest.

MADELINE:  I read the report last night.  Looks like they had a fair amount of ... panic and emotion.

OPERATIONS:  Yes, there was.

MADELINE:  Now would be a good time to reevaluate our personnel.  Get rid of the dead wood.

OPERATIONS:   All ready under review.  As soon as you're back, you'll oversee it.

MADELINE:   Hello, Birkoff.

BIRKOFF:   I can come back.

MADELINE:  No, come here. What do you have for me?

BIRKOFF:  The Drinfeld Module.

MADELINE:   Operations and I were just discussing the reactive behavior of many of our Operatives.  Apparently, you were one of the only ones on the floor who kept his head.

OPERATIONS:  As a matter of fact, Mr. Birkoff exhibited more control than was even necessary...for which I am grateful.

WHITE ROOM

BISSEROFF:  What are you going to do to me?

NIKITA:  It hasn't been decided.

MICHAEL: We may use your talents...or we may kill you.

BISSEROFF: It doesn't matter.  As long as my family is safe.

NIKITA:  So, what about his family?

MICHAEL:  It's up to Red Cell.

NIKITA: What do you mean?  I thought we that we had them?

MICHAEL:  It wasn't really them.  Birkoff simulated the M-PEG. Red Cell still has them.
