Spirit of Youth Program
The American Legion Auxiliary believes that education is the building block for freedom and actively
supports students who want to go to college. In just one year through the Spirit of Youth
and various other programs, the Auxiliary provides students with almost $1 million in scholarships.
The Auxiliary encourages early planning for college and helps young women identify
career opportunities and job expectations.

Freedoms Foundation
The Auxiliary-sponsored Americanism Conference held at Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge,
helps bring history to life for high school students across the nation. Each year, the Auxiliary provides
scholarships for students to come learn about the foundation of our country's freedom through unique and
exciting presentations. Over the course of a weekend, students see historical characters portrayed,
hear stimulating instructors, take part in lively dialogue and tour historical sites. Fresh ways of looking
at old concepts and meeting new friends make the Americanism Conference a memorable experience.
