I was born in Oklahoma, raised in New Hampshire and spent twelve years (though not consecutive) getting degrees from The University. I have a Ph.D. in the social sciences. I have lived on the east coast for practically all my cognizant life (My dad spent a semester teaching at Berkeley when I was in 6th grade. The kids tried to tease me about being from NH by singing “way down South where the peanuts grow” says a lot about the CA public school system doesn’t it?). Recently my wife and I moved out west with our daughter Greta. The move has been quite an adjustment for us. Circumstances, however, are dictating a return to the east and although we’ve made some good friends out here we’ll be fairly happy to go.
My passions include politics, golf, football primarily college but also pro, and college basketball. I enjoy Crosby and Hope “On the Road…” movies and I’m a surprisingly good singer. Standards, Cole Porter and Johnny Mercer are preferred but also tunes by Harburg, Rodgers and Hart or Hammerstein, Gershwin and a few songs by Berlin (Holiday Inn is another favorite movie.) Favorite musical composition is “Rhapsody in Blue.”
I am a knight in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem so I expect to get called up any day to defend the Holy Land. Sadly, I have not been able to make it to the last few meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Lieutenancy. For those unfamiliar with the order it is one of the few officially sanctioned (like the Knights of Malta and the Royal Order of St. George) by the Vatican. Explains in part my defense of traditional Catholicism, no?
My beautiful wife, Rebecca, is much more devout, better looking, and younger than I. Last December she gave birth to our first child (of four I hope), Greta. She is extremely adorable. Check her out below.
