What is a trumpet?
A trumpet is a soprano brass wind instrument consisting of a long metal tube
looped once and ending in a flared bell, the modern type being equipped with
three valves for producing variations in pitch.
How do I play high notes (double C's)?
In order to play high notes you must have a large volume of high velocity
air going through a very small aperture...Deep supported breath and strong
embouchure...lots of practice...lip slurs are the best for building strong
corners which will help maintain a small aperture practicing at a ppp dynamic
level will also help develop the muscles required to maintain a small aperture.
I also recommend an abdominal routine and jogging.
How do I improve my endurance?
Practice correctly...lip slurs...long tones...support the sound using
correct breathing...chest up...play often...adequate rest.
What kind of mouthpiece should I use?
Whatever mouthpiece feels best to you. It mainly depends on the
size and shape of your lips but pick one and stick to it...changing mouthpieces
is not a good practice.
