Boy! what a difference 60 years make... My station has no fancy consoles or such... just a "field day" type set-up with lots of projects in process is the order of the day. This allows the comfort factor of rapidly adapting operations to the situation at hand (or just being messy!). The six meter repeater is installed in a fixed configuration and is shelved across from the main operating position.
This is the main KT4QW operating site, including KT4QW/R (a 6 meter repeater). The shack is located approximately 100 ft. behind the residence. Built to residental standards with heat and air conditioning. I managed to have the most important items of support, including commercial and emergency power. The antenna inventory includes a 3 element SteppIR, trap dipole for 75 and 40 meters, a one element loop for 17 and 10 meters, a half wave vertical for 17 meters, a half wave vertical for the 6 meter repeater. Not clearly visible here at the rear of the shack, a 40ft. tower supports a 3 Element SteppIR.
The "Working Conditions" here are an IC-756PRO transceiver, an Ameritron ALS-600 solid state amplifier and a Homebrew Condenser microphone (replacing the Heil Goldline GM-5 microphone shown in the photograph). A MFJ antenna tuner is available but normally operated in "by-pass" mode. I do my best to keep all antennas resonant at the frequencies on which I normally operate. It has been a rewarding experience to finally get my SteppIR antenna in the air.
